Big or Little... Sometimes a girl just has to cry...

I watch a little girl cry today for about half an hour. I could have comforted her however that's not what she needed... What she needed was "just to get it out"...  another half hour later... she was just about the happiest I have ever seen her in her whole life. :)

I love the women in my life... So if you ever just need to... go ahead and bawl your eyes out..   I'll see you in about 30 minutes.

Raise a glass...

Last night I had the unique opportunity to share in a special moment. Four people gathered in the rear of the kitchen around the granite center island. The lights above were dimmed. Glasses of chardonnay poured. One by one, each raised a glass in toast of the others. Heart felt expressions of love, gratitude and friendship were spoken. The wine in the glasses disappeared behind their lips. All was well with life on the hill.

It is in these moments, the brief 15 -20 minutes that we shared, that I find happiness...
"our lives are made in these small hours
these little wonders, these twists & turns of fate
time falls away, but these small hours,
these small hours still remain" - Rob Thomas

October and The Do-Over Principle

Historically speaking, October has always been a great month for me. It has always been a time for change and new beginnings...  One way to start a new beginning is a Do-Over.  Not all do overs are a good idea of course... unless it stems from wanting to be better and succeed at something.

For example:
Thomas Edison executed the first of his 1,093 successful U.S. patent applications on 13 October 1868, at the age of 21. He filed an estimated 500–600 unsuccessful or abandoned applications as well. Every time he tried something that didn't work he would call a Do-Over and try something different. When inventing the electric light bulb he called a Do-Over almost 10,000 times before he was able to stabilize this invention.

I'm no Thomas Edison and I seriously doubt I would ever call a Do-Over 10,000 times however I do believe in the Do-Over principle... If the effort is worth the reward, I say do it, try something different this time and  call a Do-Over!

When September Ends...

For Everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven: Being the staff writer and photographer for the resort has been an honor and a privilege.  I am sad to announce my time at the resort has come to a close. The moments that I have spent on the hill, will live with me forever. It was a special season…  I love everyone and wish them the best. I hope all can forgive me for my short comings.

Not to despair… Future events will now be shared to the world by The Always Gorgeous Lori Foit.

Celebrity appearance??

Yes... the rumors you have heard are true!!!  Last week the resort was buzzing with excitement upon the arrival of the infamous Natasha a.k.a RAINBOW ROCKET!!!

Apparently the Rocket likes to travel incognito... She was spotted wearing a designer wig and wearing dark  sunglasses.. but our keen eyes recognized her right off the bat.

Via Vera Cruz Resort Bio

The Via Vera Cruz Resort is many things to many different people.. The resort serves the community in many ways:

* Many evenings you will find the resort transformed into an elegant bar and disco for mid-life socialites to enjoy a dirty martini and shake their booties on the grand dance floor adjacent to the bar. Be sure to call in advance to see if DJ Lulu is rockin the sounds for the evening. A treat that can't be missed!

* On occasion the resort serves the community as a Half-way house for families that need some time away to figure things out. You will always be welcomed and comforted in your time of need.

* The resort is also also renowned as a complete Bed and Breakfast for many of its patrons. Imagine waking up after a night in "heaven" and having your breakfast prepared by the Culinary Masters of Mexican Cuisine at the "Train". Each order is made from scratch and customized to your liking (most of the time).

* Many come to enjoy the scenic coastal views and relax pool side. If you have had a long day at work we recommend enjoying a cold beverage and soaking in the heated/bubbly Jacuzzi.  Please be advised the pool and jacuzzi are clothing optional. So please call in advance to book your party or use discretion when younger family members are around.

* For whatever reason; consider being at resort the same as being at Home.

Special note: Want to capture and document your special moments at the resort? No worries, we are pleased to announce that the creative genius of Jeff Bowden is on staff to photograph and document everything you do. The images he captures will leave you feeling haunted for a life time.
